Portland Guide 1/2

One of the things that excites me most about living in a new place is all the weekend trips! We made the 3 hour drive down to Portland over Martin Luther King Jr. day weekend and it was honestly so much fun! I am totally sold on Portland and want to go back ASAP. There was amazing art everywhere, and the food was SO good. Oh, and the people were really nice, too. 10/10 trip overall!

We stayed at this Airbnb (super affordable) and it was in the prettiest neighborhood, that I am obviously now convinced I need to move to lol. Anyway, here's a little guide to what we did and what you should do too!

Weekend Scenes

Friday/ I had my ideal work day: 5 clients from 9:00am-2:00pm. I am hoping to make that more of a thing this year, as I continue to build my client load. That night I got anxiety because the place we went for food was out of corn and I didn't want to eat meat... so Jake drove to Ballard so I could run into a dessert place, but when I went in it was all elitist with like a sign of rules on how to order?? So I got intimidated and left. There was weird/no parking and I was just feeling annoyed to live in a city. I was missing the open space feeling and ample parking of the suburbs. And also annoyed to be in my work neighborhood when I wasn't at work lol. But then I remembered Krispy Kreme existed and we watched Mr. Robot (which also triggered some anxiety for me the night before) and I felt better. Welcome to my unreasonable brain lol.

Saturday/ Jake shipped orders for Dealing with Feelings and got our oil changed. I went to the Apple store and was told it would cost $475 "plus tax" to fix my laptop... oof. But, since it still works, I can plug it into a monitor and use it just fine! Oh, and we went to the cutest coffee shop, Sod House Bakery. I am definitely adding it to my list. We had similar annoying parking experiences, but whatever. I got a lot done with Dealing with Feelings, since I could hook my computer up to Jake's monitor. That night, we went to Round 1, a Japanese arcade, with friends! I make all my friends on Instagram lol. It was really fun. I was kind of sad that the Purikura machine didn't work that well, but we still got some pictures out of it lol.

Sunday/ I went to the full amount of church for the first time in a long time lol. We are now teachers of the 14 and 15 years olds and I am pretty excited about it! I have been feeling kind of crampy today, so Jake made us a delicious meal and I've just been reading and watching T.V. We are going to a friend's house tonight to play games, which will be fun! They play strategy games, which I knew nothing about until we played Pandemic with them a few months ago. Now I am hooked hahaha. We got Betrayal at House on the Hill for Jake's family and played during Thanksgiving, and then I convinced my sister to buy it when I was in Utah. (Which reminds me, I still need to back blog the last like 3 months lol. Maybe I will do it by month or week, instead of day by day.)

Next week I have a full week! I am at like 15 clients, in addition to doing things for Dealing with Feelings. I am hoping my new designs will get here this week, so we can get them photographed and on the website for pre-order. I really hope it does well! This little company is like, my ideal job haha. I would love to see like 2 clients a day and then run my shop.

Being a therapist is such a long road lol.

P.S. I have so much fun making quotes in photoshop. This week Australia has been on fire and it's been so sad (and really aggravating) to read everything about it. I posted that picture on my Instagram today and some guy commented that "that's why we elected Trump and eating meat is good" lol. I was like... "ummmmm please tell me how those things are good for climate change??" I am done lol.

My Birthday

I feel like I don't know what to say on here anymore so here's some pictures from my birthday. We ate salmon and clam chowder at an empty little restaurant above Pike's Place on a rainy night. It was perfect. They were even playing Phantogram at one point! We got a chocolate cake to go and bought candles at the grocery store.

I can't even tell you how glad I am to finally live here.

As far as being 26, I feel very neutral. To be honest I am where I always wanted to be: working as a therapist, living somewhere other than Utah. Life is pretty good right now. Which might be due to last year being so hellish that anything would be better, ha. But, either way I'll take it!

My goals for this next year are:

- Continue working toward being fully licensed: As of now, if I work 30 hour weeks, I'll have all my hours by March 2021. I'd love to get all the hours before my next birthday, but I also really value a work life balance and am not going to work overtime just to meet some self-imposed deadline. Especially considering I can't apply for my license/take my final test until summer 2012.

- Continue working on Dealing with Feelings: This was a recent endeavor for me that is going really well so far! I want to continue to grow it this next year and potentially do it full time once I get fully licensed. That would be the dream.

- Save money for either another trip or a house. But, probably a trip lol.

- Invest in real furniture for our house. Stuff that is cute and comfy that we'll keep for a while.

And... that's it!
