Hi there!

Hi! Welcome to my corner of the internet. I'm a 26 year old therapist, feminist, photographer, and shop owner currently living in Seattle, Washington. My shop, Dealign with Feelings, is geared toward destigmatizing and normalizing mental health. I'm biased, but I think we have some pretty cute stuff :) Click the "shop" tab to see what we've got! I mainly post about my travel and daily life on here. With other random musings thrown in. I post more frequently (and about more feminism) on my Instagram @emmycoletti, so make sure you're following me there. Thanks for stopping by!

Arizona!

So we went out to Arizona for J's cousin's wedding on Saturday and it was really fun! The flight itself was pretty scary, just because it was so snowy and it took a while for the plan to be ready to take off. Oh, and then the flight was pretty turbulent, like so much so that they didn't serve us drinks haha.

But, once we got there it was fun! I was able to meet up with my friend, Beverly, who I have been online friends with for probably 10 years! Whenever we are in the same state we try to meet up! This time, we got In N Out, went to Barnes and Nobles and got gelato! It's always so fun to meet up with friends!

Chobani!

Whew! Things got a little serious here yesterday! My knee jerk reaction is to say, "Sorry!" But, I'm not going to apologize, because I think it's important to keep the integrity of this blog. I love all the comments, readers, and friends I have made during my time blogging, but at the end of the day this blog is for me (and my future children, hopefully.)

I'm a crap journalist and photos can only tell so much of a story. I love the storybook effect of photos and words in daily posts organized chronilogically. It's just so organized and clean. I love it. I love browsing my archives from high school and being able to bring back that exact time with the pictures I took and the words I wrote. So, as much as I love sharing and making new friends, this blog is very much my (used to be) private space where I chronicle my life.

I think it's important to not dwell on negativity, but it's also important to be a real person with depth. I don't ever want to appear like a 2 dimensional person who never has any feelings other than happiness. SO. If you don't like the honest posts, then skip over them, because they aren't stopping any time soon!

In other news... I did a photoshoot last week in Soho with the cutest Shira! (See the first batch here and watch for the next!) Afterwards, we stopped at Chobani! I have never had a better yogurt! Oh, and if you like coffee, they do beautiful latte art.

You HAVE to add this place to your New York list. I got the regular yogurt with blueberries, strawberries, and coconut flakes. The coconut flakes MADE it. They were like, crunchy... kinda like slivered almonds? But coconut? AMAZING. Go here.

My First Vlog!

Hello hello! I am sick right now. I literally haven't been sick in like, probably two years. I ate some sore throat drops yesterday that made me even MORE sick, haha! Anyway, as much as I hate being sick, it's kind of nice to just sleep all day and let your body heal itself.

Today's post is the vlog from when I visited Bev! Sorry in advance for all the shakyness. I'm the worse vlogger we decided! Bev made some videos too that I'll post once they're up. You guys have to see my "suitcase" because I am so proud lol! Anyway, watch it if you dare.

I'm still not sure about my feelings towards vlogging. I thought it was fun when I was with Bev, but I don't feel like my actual life is that interesting to anyone. Maybe when I move to New York haha.

Chandler, Arizona: Day 1

YOU GUYS. My friend Beverly was nice enough to let me come visit her in Arizona earlier this week. I feel like Bev and I go wayyyyyy back. We've been friends pretty much since when I started blogging. We've hung out a time or two when she's been in Utah and it's been great fun. After I discovered Allegiant's super cheap flights when we went to San Francisco to visit Leah, I thought it would be fun to go to Arizona too! I chatted Bev up and BAM. Friends IRL again.

To start the day off, we went for breakfast at Peixoto. It was soooo good. I loved the latte art the most, but my chocolate croissant was a close second. They had this tea called Cascara that I wanted to try but didn't. So, if any of you try it let me know how it tastes! :)

Gwen was such a trooper accompanying us everywhere ha! She is seriously the cutest. I stayed in her room. The first morning I was there she found me in her bed and just stood there staring at me for a good 3 minutes. It was the funniest thing. I think she liked me alright and didn't mind me stealing her room ;)

Guys, I tried on of those wrap around braids. I liked it, except for the fact some guy in a car thought it was a short haircut and that I was a lesbian! Ha! We were walking down the street and this guy leaned out his window and yelled at us, "F****** LESBIANS!!!!" We were so confused for a while, until we decided that my hair probably looked like a really short cut to him. (He was still a jerk though lol.) It was the funniest part of our day for sure. We decided that being mistaken for lesbians means we're at the true height of our friendship :)

Bev took us to Liberty Market for lunch!

Mega lol at the employee I just realized in this picture!!

Isn't it the cutest little street?!

The caprese salad, grilled cheese sandwich, and caprese pasta salad. I don't know what they do to their mozzarella cheese, but it was hands down the best I've ever had. It's impossible for me to not order caprese salads if they are on the menu ha!

We also tried a kouign-amann for dessert and it was pretty good. I have been wanting to try it ever since reading the one at Les Madeline's in Salt Lake is one of the top ten desserts in Utah. Whoa!

We spent the rest of the night chatting and buying everything pumpkin spice at Target (literally lol). It was SO NICE to be with a friend who understood the picture taking and video making haha. Miss you, Bev! <3

Your Magic's Real So Why Aren't You Using It?

Tbt the old blog when my titles were from songs. I want to bring some of the old blog characteristics back sometimes, but then I'm like, "You're an adult now!" But I just decided that titling your blog posts with song lyrics isn't angsty, right? Right?! RIGHT?!

How do people work full time jobs and still blog? And also keep up on other people's blogs? I get home at 5:30 (If I'm lucky.) and the last thing I want to do is look at a computer screen. Haha not really, but I usually end up making food and doing random life tasks. I have hundreds of posts in my blog roll! Ah! I haven't read blogs in soooooo long. I'm sorry blogworld. I have failed you. :/

I still like blogging, but I've also realized that it's not something that's important to me. I think it's more a place to put my photography. When I don't take pictures I get so depressed and annoyed that I'm a "corporate robot". But when I don't blog I'm just like, "Ok."

It's weird because prior to graduating college and getting a full time job I thought that I would always love blogging. I honestly thought I would always have a blog and that I would feel so empty without it. But now, I think I would be 100% fine haha. I more so like the connection I make in the blogging world and the organization it gives my life.

Anyway, I have just been thinking about this lately and it's just weird to feel so neutral about something I was once so passionate about.

Change is weird and sometimes I can't decide if it's bad or good. I feel like the transition from my old blog to this new blog is one I think about a lot. I can't decide if it was bad or good. On one hand, I can't get cyberbullied for any stupid thing I said when I was a teenager. But on the other hand, I have erased my whole history online so you guys only know as far back to when I met Jake. Up until I started college I was really artsy and took cool pictures and wrote cool poems. Even that first year produced some pretty good pieces of art because of all the shiz that happened. They weren't amazing, but they were honest and true.

I had so much angst that fueled all of that. But then when I met Jake I became a real adult who didn't experience angst 24/7. I know that part of that is good, but a part of me wishes I could publish that old blog and let it back into the cyberworld. I feel like I now censor a huge part of my life because I'm scared of the backlash I might get if I say I'm voting for Hilary and I hate living in Utah. I've only ever had serious backlash about one thing I wrote, but it was harsh enough that I never want to put risky things on this space again. I have a lot of opinions and a lot to say, but I don't ever want to offended anyone. I'm just a 21-year-old girl with limited life experience so what do I really know anyway?

It's just weird, I guess. Change.

iPhone Diary

I always debate on whether or not to post iPhone photos. On one hand, I want to keep using my camera and taking quality pictures. On the other hand, I take a lot of pictures on my iPhone and I don't want them to just get lost in the photo abyss in my life. So, I've decided to just post my iPhone pictures, but to also be more selective about it. I was looking through my mom's photo albums the other day and she had like, one album from 1994-1997. She didn't even have a picture of me in the hospital the day I was born! I may have freaked out and thought I was adopted for some time haha. Anyway, I feel like it's nice to have lots of pictures, but then again when I have kids and they want to look at our pictures, they are going to have like thousands to go through haha. So, I'm trying to keep pictures that represent important memories, things I want to remember, instead of just pictures that were cool in the moment. Idk. I'm rambling now, but in short, expect more iPhone posts!

My cute coworker! We have to take selfies while we do trainings and it's so funny haha.

The trail by my house has the most baby stop sign. I love it haha.

I REALLY need to make a video about public restrooms, but long story short: I hate them very much. Now that I'm at work all day I literally have no choice but to use a public restroom haha. I took this picture to congratulate myself on getting over weird life traps.

When I was filming my DIY video, my niece decided to be a little photographer. She was the cutest! And also caught on VERY fast on how to take a picture. By the end she could take a picture and review all the pictures on the camera haha. Kids these days are so freaking good with electronics.

My cute coworkers! I love my job!

Jake's motorcycle haha. It's my favorite thing. It's so funny. Every time we go on a ride my vagina ends up feeling like a smushed ant on the sidewalk. TMI, but in essence, I guess "sport bikes" aren't really meant to have passengers. Especially not when you're on bumpy roads hahahahahaha. Oh also, I saw a stat that like 95% of my readers are women, so I feel very comfortable talking about things like this here :)

And lastly, pictures from camping! It was super fun taking Trixie. I want to take her every time now!

The One With Flog

So my friend Leah is a genius and created this weekly video challenge thing. This week's challenge was a get to know you video! I already kind of made one of these with random facts, so it was fun to make one with more... relevant information? Anyway, enjoy!

*Also, forgive the super exposed part where the sun decided to come out and kill my vibe.*

I Have Friends!!!

Lol at the title of this post. I always joke that Trixie and Jake are my only friends, but I really do have others I guess.

A Friends IRL event finally happened! We went to 180 Tacos. I got the falafel tacos and they were pretty delish. I really want to try the tofu tacos next time. I might drag Jake here with me the day we celebrate my never having to step foot on BYU Provo campus. I want to try their little donuts I keep hearing about.

We then explored the colored walls in Provo. So, enjoy those awkward pictures of me. Can you tell that I am definitely not a fashion blogger? Actually almost everything I am wearing in those pictures is a hand-me-down from my sister. Thanks, Ash.

Oh, but look how cute me and Riley are in our first friend picture. Yay first friend pictures! I feel like I have been reading her blog 4ever. Also, I feel like we have done many random, awkward blogging things together. So, that's always a bonding experience. This picture is actually authentic but I'm not sure I want to announce on the internets what we were lol-ing about haha. #politcallycorrect.

We went to get treats at Enliten Bakery afterwards! (McKenzie, is it "afterward or afterwards"?) Ok. So, I have been to Eliten Bakery many a times. Their cake balls are very good and also very adorable. Their chocolate covered macaroons are also very good. Their hot chocolate is decent. BUT OMG THIS CHOCOLATE CROISSANT WAS HEAVEN. Like, it was seriously soooo good. I also got a chocolate chip cookie, because apparently I can't go to bakeries these days without getting two pastries haha. It was okay, but I would rather make Love Taza's chocolate chip cookie recipe at home, because that recipe makes 100% the best cookies in the world. But anyway, make sure you add Enliten Bakerie's chocolate croissant to your Utah bucket list. Have them warm it up for you!

Thaks for meeting up Riley and Mindy! Twas a v fun time.

P.S. I have a BYU rant that I want to put somewhere haha. UGH. I have so many problems with the testing center.

First they made me pay $20 for a calculator that I accidentally took out of the testing center, without calling to tell me I had a certain amount of time to return it. And they didn't even let me keep it. And it was one of those dollar ones from Wal-Mart. UGH.

Then they didn't have my American Heritage test I spent days studying for. Then they made me go all the way up to Salt Lake to take the American Heritage test when they finally did have it. UGH.

Now they "ran out of my test" that I had to take for my internship. They didn't know when they would have it back in. I asked them to call me when it gets in so I don't drive all the way down there again for nothing, and I think they were kind of annoyed. But, I think that if you say you are going to have a test, and if people believe you and take the time out of their day to drive to you and prepare for it, and you don't have it? The least you can do is call them when you do so they don't waste their time again haha. So, I have to set aside another 2 hours of my life tomorrow to drive down to Provo to take it haha. It expires tomorrow, so cross your fingers they have it!

Ah, the struggle is real with the testing center, guys. I have the WORST luck there. I honestly don't hear anything bad about it (aside from turning people away for beards or wearing clothing that isn't allowed) so it's so weird that I have had this many unfortunate experiences with them. Thank the heavens I am almost done and won't have to go there again haha!!

bloggie party dos: spa skin care products

*Sorry, some of my old posts were getting spam, so I tried to revert them into drafts and then figured out a better way and reposted them. So, sorry if they show up in your feed!*

So, here's another post I've had queued up for some time. A few weeks ago my dearest floggie (bloggie friend, but let's start this "floggie" thing, am I right?!) Riley told me about this spa night that was happening. Naturally I attended, because how can you not? Anyways, (Wait, remember when people used to write "neways" and then would get sassy if you asked what "knee-ways" was? "Ugh. It's ANYWAYS Emily!!" I sure don't miss those days.) it turned out to be a grand time. Oh, and excuse the iPhone pictures, sometimes you have no choice, ya know?

WHOLE FOODS CATERED. Also, they had fancy sparkling cider, so you know. Just my natural habitat.

Whole Foods made this totally delish crème brûlée with raspberry. Excuse me while I daydream about it forever.

They had a little station where you could customize your own spa skin care products! AMAZING. Their salt is from the Great Salt Lake, which is amazing because it's like rubbing Utah all over your body, literally. Anyways, I decided to go for some creme, because I literally can not stand my hands being dry. Like, I'm not even kidding. If there is no lotion available and my hands have that gross feeling, sometimes I have to lick them or something. What? Moving on.

ALSO THE SPACE WAS AMAZING. Look at the floor!! Like, I can't even you guys. I CAN'T EVEN. It's so brilliant. He said he got most of it from Ikea, so you can bet imma be hightailin' it over there as soon as I'm a home owner.

There were swarms and swarms of women. SWARMS I TELL YOU. Shiz got prettttty cray, if I do say so myself. At one point in the night, they decided to have a pinata with like, mega prizes. They decided to break this pinata and have 150 women SWARM for the prizes. It was how I imagine it will be if Ebola goes airborne and then in the midst of the panic, the CDC drops a small vial of "the cure" in the middle of Times Square. Like, literally it was insane. I think some girl chipped her tooth? Who knows. I instinctively run away from large crowds of people without even making conscious decisions about it.

After the pinata fiasco, we made our own spa skin care product! We picked out the scent we wanted and then got to make our own creme. It was quite neat being a cremea-tier (Like chocolatier, except creme? No?)

Here I am. With my creme. And very happy.

Probably the best party of the night was when we got these robes from Ikea. We had to stop for gas and Leah just hopped out and started pumpin' in her robe. #nofear. But in reality no one even cared. We were quite amused, though.

Do you know how classy it feels to sip sparkling cider in a car while wearing a robe? I literally felt like Chuck Bass could have been there and we would still have outclassed him.

Oh, and I can't end this post without a gif because LOOK AT US IN OUR ROBES I CAN'T EVEN.

Shout out to Salt of the Earth for being the nicest and doing this event. Also, shout out to Riley Jo for inviting me and to Leah for coming and driving. And to Whole Foods for making delicious treats. And to IKEA FOR BEING AMAZING ALWAYS.

Also enter "saltyparty14" to get 40% off Salt of the Earth products!
