Hi there!

Hi! Welcome to my corner of the internet. I'm a 26 year old therapist, feminist, photographer, and shop owner currently living in Seattle, Washington. My shop, Dealign with Feelings, is geared toward destigmatizing and normalizing mental health. I'm biased, but I think we have some pretty cute stuff :) Click the "shop" tab to see what we've got! I mainly post about my travel and daily life on here. With other random musings thrown in. I post more frequently (and about more feminism) on my Instagram @emmycoletti, so make sure you're following me there. Thanks for stopping by!

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day was so good this year! I didn't have to go to work until later in the day, so I cleaned the house and made some cute chocolate covered strawberries while watching Supernatural.

When I got home from work J and I did our little celebration. He brought home sweet and sour chicken and fried rice which was SO GOOD. And then the heart Krispy Kreme donuts!

We watched Warm Bodies in bed and it was so fun! I watched it before, but it was one of those movies that has been like 5 years since I had seen, so I kind of forgotten how it went haha.

Overall, it was a v fun and chill Valentine's Day!

Outfits + Fam Reading Night

I have been trying to dress fun again (grad school killed my style) so here is this! I linked everything at the bottom, except for these shoes which are from Posey and Pence. I love the sass I feel when I wear hoop earrings haha.

Ok so pretty much the only fashion blogger I follow these days is @bresheppard and her recommendations are amazing! She posted about these scrunchies that are amazing. You get 20 for $10!

I also started a new book! You can read the reviews and synopsis here. It was written by Stephen King under his pseudonym Richard Bachman. The intro is really interesting because Stephen King talks about how his books are different from Richard Bachman's and how he felt when people felt out it was him lol. I actually have finished this book since writing this post and I would recommend it! I love Stephen King books anyway, but this one I felt like was a quick and fun read.

P.S. Here's a happy list for today: Watching The Bachelor / Staying home and watching True Blood / Getting lots of new makeup and hygiene stuff from Target

Galaxy Nails + Home Decor

Ok so these galaxy nails are not my favorite I've every done haha. But they do look ok from far away!

I watched Supernatural while doing these and I really like that show haha. I am having to go back and rewatch because I checked out for a while and the had no idea what was going on, but now that I am back into I am once again a fan!

So I have been loving following @nestingwithgrace! She was actually in our church congregation in Connecticut so I am weirdly late to following her haha, but she has the cutest home and the best interior design tips! I did a little around-the-sink revamp the other day with some tips I got from her! You can get a little cake stand for your soap and it is so much cuter! I got this one at the Target dollar section for $5. And then I love the look of twinkle lights, so it put them around the window and it's all so much cuter, I think.

Also, in case you are looking for a basil plant that will actually stay alive, GO TO MACEY'S IN HOLLADAY. They honestly have the best! Then put it in a sunny area and water every day! (Also lol J in the window 😂)

P.S. Here's a happy list for today: Watching movies and crossing them off of our list / It snowing four more inches! / J filling my car up with gas

Living My Best Life

GUYS. SCHOOL IS BACK IN SESSION!!! LIFE HAS MEANING AGAIN! I thought I would love having two days off my internship, but I actually really missed my classmates and felt like it was too much free time.

I basically spent my break living in these velvet pajamas you have all been going crazy over on my Instagram (click here for the link) and watching lots of T.V. (current Quantico, Riverdale, The Path, Bachelor, and Colony season 2... I am a T.V. junkie lol). I also made some pretzels which was so soothing. I love trying new recipes and having a show on in the background. It is one of my favorite ways to destress. I just ordered a donut pan to make donuts this weekend and am v excited! If you have any fave donut recipes def let me know!

I also tested a bunch of new products! Here's what I thought of them:

1/ Ofra Makeup Fixer Setting Spray - I have been liking this a lot! I mainly love that the bottle is so huge and the mist comes out really evenly. It's so weird to think that I used to not use any setting spray lol.

2/ Becca Moonstone Highlighter - My sister gave me a little sample kit of a bunch of highlighters and I have been really loving this one! It goes on really well and has the prettiest sheen. And it's vegan and cruelty free!

3 / Zoya nail polish - I am loving this color and this color. Every year Zoya has a huge sale for Black Friday and I stock up haha. They have the best nail polish because it is natural and toxin free! Definitely try it if you haven't yet.

4/ Coconut oil chapstick - So my lips went through a weird dry spell and I decided to try to use a waxless chapstick. I didn't realize how hard it was to find chapstick without wax! I bought this one but ended up not loving it. It dries really fast and I like it when I can rub my lips together like an hour after putting chapstick on and can still feel it. So, if you have any recommendations for really nourishing chapstick, let me know!

5/ HSI Argan Oil shampoo and conditioner - I have been loving this shampoo and conditioner! It feels pretty on par with the other shampoo and conditioner I use, but I love that it has Argan Oil in it because I usually add that to my hair after anyway. My only qualm with these are that the pumps don't pump a lot of liquid out at one time, so I have to pump it about 4 times to get all the shampoo and conditioner I need (I use a lot haha). Side note: I cut my hair like a foot as you may or may not have noticed. It has been a fun change and I feel like it looks good, but I think my longer hair was easier to do, ha! So I don't think I would go this short again, but it is fun to know what it feels like to just chop it!

6 / Tarte highlighter - Another very good highlighter! It's also vegan and cruelty free. I switch on and off between this and the Becca one listed above.

The One Where I Got Traumatized At A McDonald's

Yesterday we took Tuck to the dog park. It was soooo muddy. It was muddy again today, actually. But hey, you gotta do what you gotta do! One of my favorite things to do right now on Sundays is get treats from the Goodwill vending machine and then drive around. (Also, I took this picture right when J was telling me a story about a mean guy lol. That look of disgust!)

Where we live in Connecticut, there aren't a lot of... scenic drives? I guess? Like in Utah we would always drive up the canyon into the mountains. Here they have a beach by us, but everything else is pretty residential. So we just end up driving by really nice houses haha. But yesterday I couldn't remember the way we usually go, so we kind of just drove random places. (Creepily enough at one point we popped out RIGHT next to the dog park, which is why we took him haha.)

We ended up finding this really pretty wooded street! I think it was called Staples street? It was in Easton, if anyone wants to go.

I didn't get a picture of the both of us, but we both wore camo hahaha. I just got this camo set (from here, for those who have been asking on IG) and I am IN LOVE. It is so soft and fits perfectly. I want to get more pajama/sweat sets.

Also can someone please be proud that I continued to take pictures after I saw a runner coming my way?

Like, so pretty, right?!?! I always feel so awkward having J take my pictures, even though we've been married for 4 years lol. Just me?

I don't actually have social anxiety or anything, but I am probably on the spectrum somewhere haha. Like I feel so uncomfortable doing the most random things, like having to push a regular sized grocery cart in the grocery store. Omg wait I have to interrupt myself to tell a story that I can not forget because it was CRAZY!!!

Ok so we were at our second McDonald's getting drinks and I was just making an Instagram video to be funny (because were at our SECOND MCDONALD'S). So I was recording J get his credit card back from the girl and drive to the next window. The girl at the next window saw my phone and immediately said, "I don't consent to being recorded!!" and I said, "Oh I was just recording the sign." (I obviously panicked haha.) And put my phone down, but I had stopped recording so it was playing the video I had just taken. She was like, "I can see myself on your phone. I don't consent to being recorded!" And so I was like, "Oh ok, I'll delete it." And she just stood there and stared me down. I wasn't about to be like, "See?? I deleted it!!" Because I just felt like it was such a weird request and the video I was taking was about the drinks, not some slam video about McDonald's employees haha. So she just stared me down and then we drove off....

IS THAT NOT THE WEIRDEST THING YOU'VE EVER HEARD?!?! Like first of all, I am an adult woman here with my husband, not a teenager who is trying to prank you for YouTube. Second, can you just like, say it nicer? Like I've heard, "Sorry, you can't record in here!" before. But this was NeXt LeVeL you guys. Like she was PISSED I would dare take my phone out in the McDonald's drive thru and get her in it haha.

Please keep in mind I am from Utah where people are like, SO NICE. We moved to New York where people are so mean, and then to Connecticut where people aren't as mean as they are in New York, but definitely not as nice as people in Utah. It just bums me out to have such negative experiences with strangers all the time haha. It kind of makes you feel unwelcome? Or like you are doing something wrong? Like I will most likely never record anything for Instagram stories in front of a stranger again ahah. #scarred.

If you can shed some light onto why this girl was so mean and adamant about me not recording her, please let me know. Because I am SHOOK at this moment and feel super bad. Like I broke someone's personal boundary or something. If I was like, Zoella or something I could understand. But I am literally just some random girl trying to make jokes about herself on Instagram? So, plz shed some light onto what happened in this situation. Needless to say I will never go back to that McDonald's haha.

(P.S. I am literally writing this post in the bathroom because Tucker is being so annoying.)

Life Update

GUYS I AM DYING! I am totally wearing this shirt backward in these photos!!! Lol click here to see what it actually looks like. It is super cute and under $10! Also the skirt I am wearing is linked here. I am obsessed with it!

I don't do these type of posts often but I feel like things are happening that I will want to remember in the future lol.

First, my last semester of grad school starts in two weeks! I can't believe I am almost done with school forever haha. I remember being 14 and people asking me what I wanted to be when I grew up and me telling them, "a therapist!" It's weird enough that I am acting as a therapist right now at my current internship, but it's even weirder to think that I will be getting to paid to do this amazing job this summer! I don't write a lot of public posts about my career because I get really worried about blurring lines between my work and personal lives, but I had to document this moment because I am SO CLOSE TO BEING DONE! It has been the hardest, hardest thing of my life, but I am so happy and proud of myself (does it exist to be proud of yourself???) that I stuck it through all the crap and will be graduating with my master's in May! I also couldn't mention all this without mentioning how lucky I've been to be surrounded by amazing people who have helped me through all my schooling. I still can't believe I have the world's best husband who just packed up and moved across the country so I could get my degree. #blessed #grateful

Second, we have been nailing down our budget for the past few months (shout out: Mint.com is the best app to us if you are in a relationship and sharing finances!). Today, we did some number crunching and officially decided to shoot for Seattle for our next move! We've started scouting out jobs and looking at different areas outside of Seattle (we luh the suburbs), so if you have any recommendations on jobs (business or therapist) or neighborhoods, definitely let me know! If we can't get jobs in Seattle, we'll look at Portland, but we're really hoping Seattle works out!

Third, I am planning some trips for next year and could use input! We need to know where is fun to go in the Caribbean? Also, is Germany at Christmas worth the hype? Also, what are the places we need to make sure we travel to before we have babies? Please let me know!

Last, it has been like, in the negative outside. Also there is like, a literal foot of snow. Taking Tucker outside has been like, the worst thing in the world lol. Needless to say, the idea of living somewhere that merely rains during the winter is very appealing to us right now!

I feel like those are all the updates? I don't think I will forget us living in Connecticut, having no friends, eating McDonald's on the weekend, and watching a lot of T.V. lol. We are really boring right now, but it's ok because we also don't have a lot of time. I keep telling J that when I graduate our "true lives" will start! And I'm v excited to see what they are!

X-Files Revival Party

This show was our lifeblood all through our dating and beginning of marriage. We watched an episode a night and whistled along with the theme song. I truly believe it is one of the best T.V. series. Naturally, when I saw it was coming back, and premiering on my day off no less, I had to go all out lol.

This party decor cost me like $10 and a few hours of my time. WORTH IT.

I gave up on doing a cool galaxy drink and just did Sprite with blue ice cubes lol.

Don't mind me. I just ate roughly 4 of these galaxy Rice Krispies. Rice Krispies are my favorite when they are fresh and still gooey. I literally couldn't not eat the leftovers haha. Also, here is a baking tip I learned from my days being a chocolatier: Use plastic gloves sprayed with cooking oil (like you are putting on lotion) to prevent a sticky mess.

Our T.V. kept wigging because we were just using the app, but we still got to watch *most* of the first episode. It was so good! I will not give any spoilers but MAN am I glad The X-Files is back haha. That story line is revolutionary.

Poor Tucker. It has been SO cold outside. (The is a blizzard going on that has the schools and work canceled as I write this.) He has been all cooped up and I feel so bad. I keep telling him, "This is your last winter in an extreme climate area!" But I don't think he understands ;)

This dress is soooooo cute and one of my new faves! It's under $25 too. DEAL.

Oh, also I chopped my hair off lol. I'm not sure if you can tell as much in these photos, but it is so nice! I felt like it was just long and shapeless before. Now I feel like it has a defined style to it. Everyone was all into my long hair, but I felt like it didn't work the best with my face shape! So, I am really liking this change!
