Hi there!

Hi! Welcome to my corner of the internet. I'm a 26 year old therapist, feminist, photographer, and shop owner currently living in Seattle, Washington. My shop, Dealign with Feelings, is geared toward destigmatizing and normalizing mental health. I'm biased, but I think we have some pretty cute stuff :) Click the "shop" tab to see what we've got! I mainly post about my travel and daily life on here. With other random musings thrown in. I post more frequently (and about more feminism) on my Instagram @emmycoletti, so make sure you're following me there. Thanks for stopping by!

Will The Real Slim Shady Please Stand Up?

On Wednesday everyone at my work dressed up. I was playing around with being what you'll see here tomorrow, or Eminem. I decided to be Eminem because a coworker told me it would be unexpected. Let me just say, it was UNEXPECTED. I earned major street credit lol. This one kid even tried to quiz me and was like, "Hey, what's the name of your costume?" I said, "Eminem." He was like, "Well yeah, but what's his real name?" I said, "Marshall Mathers." BAM. Weren't expecting me to know that one, were you?! Throughout the day people were like, "I didn't even recognize you!!!" Or simply, "Slim Shadyyyyyyy!!!!!!" It was awesome.

Lol. Such an entertaining day.

I debated whether or not I should rap Lose Yourself, but I decided not to because I'm still getting over my cold. One day though, I'll grace the world with my performance ;) I'm debating making a video or just doing it live. I can't decide what would be better.

Anyway, just wanted to document these photos on the internets, cause you know. Gotta be a real person and everything ;)

XOXO

Family Halloween Party!

I apparently didn't take many photos at our family halloween party! I am trying to get better at photographing the every day. Hence why I have been posting so much lately. I did take lots of pictures of our costumes, but I am going to post mine and Jake's on Halloween. And I never post pictures of my family here for privacy reasons, but just know other people were there too hahahahah.

My mom made this green apple Kool-Aid and it was SO good. Like, I was surprised at how good it was. We have a halloween tradition of always having this broccoli cheese soup in pumpkin bread bowls. It's dang good, and that's coming from someone who is "not a soup person". (Although I think it just depends on the soup now.)

I want to have a friend halloween party but I feel like I have so many friends scattered in different groups it would be so awkward. I have my friends from high school, my friends from blogging, and then we have my husbands friends. So, I probably won't do it, but I do want to go to a friend halloween party this year! We've never gone to one and I think it could be fun with all the married couples here :).

That's one of the reasons why I'm excited to move to New York, as well. I hear that out there your friends are your family, because no one is living super close to their family. I think in Utah it's kind of hard because most people's families are so close they usually end up doing stuff with them. (Like us hahaha.) So, let's hope we'll have some fun friends in NYC to do things with! :)

The One With The 1,000th Day Of Dating

I feel so stupid for this now? For some reason, a long time ago I thought it would be fun to set all sorts of count downs on my phone. Count downs are how I survive, you guys. Anyway, so I set one for our 1,000th day of dating, because I thought it seemed like such a far away day. So it's weird that it's here now? Because I can remember setting it and being like, "Ha!! This is so crazy! A thousand days of dating! Can you even imagine?!" And now it's here and I'm like, "I guess we'll go to Chipotle to celebrate?"

Lol.

Anyway, so my friend Jovanna is SO AMAZING AT PHOTOGRAPHY. She took these pictures of us and I'm obsessed with them. I choose a rooftop and my convertible because of #memorypurposes. We're selling my car in the spring, so I kind of wanted to remember it because it's the first nicer car I've had. And as much as I hate driving, I really do love my car. Anyway, we decided on the rooftop kind of not knowing how it would turn out, but I actually really love how it looks!!

If you're in Utah definitely book Jovanna before she moves to Texas! And if you're in Texas, yay for you! You have an amazing photographer living amidst the others :)

I am going to try not to photo overload this... so let's see how I do.

I didn't do that bad, did I?

SPECIAL THANKS TO JOVANNA FOR BEING SO SO SO SO SO X 1,000,000,000 AMAZING!
Go follow her photography blog here to see all her beautiful shots!!

Anniversary Part 2: The One Where We Picnicked With Dead Fish

We ate breakfast at Eva Bakery! I've been wanting to go here for forever. We actually tried to two years ago for my birthday but went to Eva instead. So, please note there is an Eva and an Eva Bakery. They are on the same street like two blocks apart. I wasn't the biggest fan of my french toast because I'm not a cream cheese person, but I want to go back and try something else because it all looked so good. They also had some fun macarons that were crazy flavors.

Sunday was our actual anniversary so we still wanted to do fun things even though we weren't in Salt Lake anymore. We picnicked at Tibble Fork and explored the other side of the lake! All the good picnic spots were taken, so we just threw our blanket on this dirt slope. I looked down at the water and there were like, three dead fish just staring at me with their dead fish eyes. They were like, no more than five feet away from me :( Not the most ideal, but at least our food was good and cute ha!

I ended up dying while hiking because it was a hundred degrees and we were HIKING. So, we asked Jake's aunt if we could use her pool and it was a blast! The water was so perfect and we had the pool to ourselves and we played horse on makeshift-floatie-horses and it was just awesome. So, shoutout to her for being the best.

Also, few things have ever made me happier than that glitter macaron. While I was eating them Jake was like, "I get it now. Macarons are a complete experience for you." I was like, "What do you mean?" He said, "Well, you go to a cute shop and pick them out and then get them in cute packaging and take pictures of them and then eat them. It's not just about the macaron, it's about the whole experience." HAHA.

After swimming we ate some pizza and scooter rode to three story park to watch the sunset. All in all, a v good anniversary weekend. I'm really lovin' the whole trips instead of presents thing!

life lately

Agh. Life. What is it, even? Ya know? Although, it turns out it's grammatically correct to say "anyway" instead of "anyways", so I apologize for all grammar nazis out there who were cringing at my constant use of the wrong term.

So, I don't really know why this picture of Trixie happened. It just did. That's all the explanation I feel is needed.

Low quality picture from the hotel room. Also a better picture of us matching. Also Jake's hair was looking really great, and so was the beard. Ya know.

City views will forever be my favorite! Although the mountains are nice sometimes, I feel like I see them so much it's hard to appreciate. You know how wanderlust does that to you? Yeah, serious case over here.

Ok, I'm sorry about my boob, because I really don't know what's going on there. Nothing new, I suppose, but I apologize nonetheless. Sometimes your boobs just get to a certain size and it's like, there's not really much you can do to keep them down. TMI maybe, but really this is a pretty frequent story of my life over here and I've decided it's just going to keep happening so I'm giving up. I know some of you ladies out there are like, "Mhmmmmmm!" right now. But also this is the only picture we took together on Valentine's Day and I want to remember it, gosh darn it!!

Jake had to shave his beard for some skin appointment to get his beard card renewed. (Side note: If you are not living in Utah and/or are not aware of BYU's rules, students are not allowed to have beards (but they can have mustaches??? So, it's like a Twilight Zone episode because you'll be walking around and see all these hipsters with mustaches and it's just not a pleasant experience.) If you do want to have a beard, you have to get it approved. True story. You meet with a guy and he gives you permission to have a beard based on if you're in a play or if you break out when you shave. Then it's awesome because you have a beard card. So, when you go to take a test and they try to not let you because you have a beard, you can flash your card and be all "Biotch, paleaseee!" It's probably the only thing I'm jealous about that men can do and I can't.

ANYWAY, (see what I did there) Jake shaved a mustache to be funny. If you don't know me IRL, just know that I hate mustaches and think they are pretty creepy. It was super weird to see a stache on him haha. I still have mixed feelings, but it doesn't matter because he got approved and the beard will be back.

I was talking to my mom after coming home one night at like 9 pm. We had been talking in the kitchen for maybe like, 10-20 minutes. Then a timer went off and she pulled out this ENTIRE PAN OF VEGETABLES THAT SHE LITERALLY MADE FOR HERSELF. It was very weird and I didn't understand it. I guess sometimes when you're craving vegetables at night before bed you have to make 10 times the amount so you can have leftovers throughout the week. Maybe it's a mom thing.

The sunset was just pretty.

My cute friend sent me cute snail mail! I've never had a penpal before so I am excited! I need to get cute stationary, but that would involve me leaving the house and I'm not sure how I feel about that (kidding but really). If there are any places to get cute stationary, please let me know!

Ok, life hack for all vegetarians missing sweet and sour chicken (I miss China Wok 1 so much. Go there and get it. It's in Highland behind Pizza Pie Cafe and Kholer's/Ridley's). Buy Gardein Mandarin Crispy Chick'n (you can get it at Wal-Mart sometimes) and then get the sweet and sour sauce from Panda Express, fried rice, and chow mein. It's a small heaven. Like, literally it is sooooo good. I had it again tonight! We ate Chinese for the Chinese New Year, which is something my mom started when I was younger. It's also very strange because we are 0% Chinese. Any excuse to eat out, I suppose!

I'm super obsessed with my new initial necklace from Bohme. I've wanted one for so long and I'm so happy to finally have one!

And lastly, I love when Trixie lays like this. She like, tucks her legs underneath the body and looks like she's legless. I love it, it's so cute haha.

Lately I've just been doing school. Are you sick of hearing that yet? I'm sick of doing it. I have to do 24 credits before April… aka 7 classes. I'm almost dead, but then also almost done so it's pretty good motivation to just finish. I honestly don't know what I'll do when I graduate. Probably lots of DIYs from my Pinterest board, Buffy The Vampire Slayer/other teen soaps, and eating!!

celebrations

I don't know about everyone else, but I for one am so sick of seeing "year in review" posts haha. So, I'll spare you and share photos from our New Year's Eve instead. If you really want to read about my year, the archive link is on the sidebar ;)

Anyways, whoever invented the idea of giving gift cards to college students is a GENUIS! We went to Chili's and enjoyed a very tasty meal complete with The Molten, which is in my opinion the best dessert of all the desserts at all the restaurants. (Except maybe the chocolate pudding at Cafe Trio. I still dream about that stuff.)

We stopped by Jake's friend's party for a little while, and then headed home to get our teen adventure on by watching Moral Instruments. Can we talk about Lily Collin's eyebrows for a second? Sometimes they are so perfect I cry, but then sometimes they are like, 100% too big. So, that's weird to me.

Also, if you have not yet tried the Apple-Grape Martinelli's then you are seriously missing out some very real happiness.

And lastly, what movie night would be complete without the cutest small angel of the world? (Not the phone, Trixie. Hahahah.)

I've never really been a "resolutions!!!!" person, because I find that if I just tell myself I am going to play the piano more as opposed to "play the piano every day!" then I usually end up doing better at the goal haha. So, I'm thinking I might make very vague goals this year, and see where that gets me. Pretty much the only goal I reached from last year was to get above a 3.0 every semester, so yay for that! Jake on the other hand is just like, "Hmmm, I haven't run a lot before, but this year I am going to run a half marathon." Then he like, gets out of bed the next day and runs 6 miles. Men, am I right? Like, can you share some of that manly strength and endurance with my baby body please?

Anyways, 2014 was good! Not for any specific reason, but just because it was another wonderful year I got to spend with my lovely, lovely bb. Also, we went to New York and my dreams of living there were VERY solidified haha. So, hopefully 2015 will bring some equally awesome things!

christmas snippets

You know those dreams you have where everything goes exactly how you want it to go? Like you want to fly on a broomstick (my personal favorite) and then all of the sudden there is a broomstick and you're flying on it? Well, that is literally how this Christmas was. Everything went 100% according to our planned schedule and it was so amazing. Here's some snippets of our holiday!

Even the meanest of cats get delicious food on Christmas eve.

But, then they get sassy and demand you bring the food to them, but you resist because you remember you have an amazing dog and also that you hate cats.

These are three very real, very unedited pictures of the sunset on our way to dinner Christmas Eve. UTAH IS BEAUTIFUL.

My brother won a package of those giant Reese's! Also, he left them here so needless to say I will be enjoying literal 1 pound giant Reese's for the next week or so (because who knows how long it takes to actually eat the whole thing, ya know).

Our pajamas turned out pretty decent, if I do say so myself. There's just something about matching pajamas that makes me so happy hahahaha.

IT SNOWED CHRISTMAS MORNING SO THAT'S HOW I KNOW MOTHER NATURE LOVES US.

The cutest dinner date and the yummiest dinner at Buca Di Beppo! I'm not the biggest italian cream soda fan there ever was, but MAN. Those italian sodas are something else. The cream is like, literally form the clouds of heaven, I swear.

Ah, the lights at Temple Square. They were such a nice way to end our quiet Christmas Day! I am loving those lights on the water. Sooooo pretty.

All in all, I'd say Christmas was a success!
