Hi there!

Hi! Welcome to my corner of the internet. I'm a 26 year old therapist, feminist, photographer, and shop owner currently living in Seattle, Washington. My shop, Dealign with Feelings, is geared toward destigmatizing and normalizing mental health. I'm biased, but I think we have some pretty cute stuff :) Click the "shop" tab to see what we've got! I mainly post about my travel and daily life on here. With other random musings thrown in. I post more frequently (and about more feminism) on my Instagram @emmycoletti, so make sure you're following me there. Thanks for stopping by!

My Birthday

I feel like I don't know what to say on here anymore so here's some pictures from my birthday. We ate salmon and clam chowder at an empty little restaurant above Pike's Place on a rainy night. It was perfect. They were even playing Phantogram at one point! We got a chocolate cake to go and bought candles at the grocery store.

I can't even tell you how glad I am to finally live here.

As far as being 26, I feel very neutral. To be honest I am where I always wanted to be: working as a therapist, living somewhere other than Utah. Life is pretty good right now. Which might be due to last year being so hellish that anything would be better, ha. But, either way I'll take it!

My goals for this next year are:

- Continue working toward being fully licensed: As of now, if I work 30 hour weeks, I'll have all my hours by March 2021. I'd love to get all the hours before my next birthday, but I also really value a work life balance and am not going to work overtime just to meet some self-imposed deadline. Especially considering I can't apply for my license/take my final test until summer 2012.

- Continue working on Dealing with Feelings: This was a recent endeavor for me that is going really well so far! I want to continue to grow it this next year and potentially do it full time once I get fully licensed. That would be the dream.

- Save money for either another trip or a house. But, probably a trip lol.

- Invest in real furniture for our house. Stuff that is cute and comfy that we'll keep for a while.

And... that's it!

Jake's Birthday!

Wow, sorry I am a bad wife and haven't posted about this yet! I have been busy having 3 clients a week and watching Smallville lol.

Jake turned... 28 a few weeks ago! I had to calculate that. I feel like anything after 25 is hard to remember! Just me?

Anyway, in true Jake fashion he wanted to go to Gordito's for dinner, so we did! I just asked him what he would rate it and he said, "Ummmm... like an 8."

So, there's that!

We went home to have vanilla cake with strawberry frosting (Jake's request). I feel like this cake is arguable the cutest I have ever made? I think I will make tall cakes in the future!

Christmas Things

Merry Christmas! Here's a few pics from the past two days.

We did my family's Christmas traditions the day before Christmas Eve. We had dinner and played our traditional games! Does anyone else play 7/11 or the wrapping paper game? They are so fun lol. My mom also added in an "adult memory" game where you flip over paper plates to get matches and then get to choose prizes. It was really fun! I was also v glad that we did things the day before, because with my and J's family living here things can get really crazy really fast. So it was nice to not having everything in the same day!

Also this is my niece in her doctor set lol. I was her patient and she was very stern and wouldn't let me get up lol.

Christmas Eve morning we went to Kneader's for breakfast. I was so sad/happy because the girl came to tell us they didn't have croissants and asked us what other bread we would want our sandwiches on, but then when she brought them out told us they found more croissants lol. They have a rosemary focaccia which I was hoping was like the buns at the Dinosaur Museum (if you know, you know!) so I was kind of sad to not find out lol. Also, for any Kneader's insiders, please let me know where they get their orange juice! It's so good!

That night, we went to J's parents house for dinner and gifts. This year it was just J and his immediate family which was really fun. Afterward, we headed to J's work to grab snacks (mostly we just do this because it's fun to drive around), tried to look at Christmas lights but everyone was a Scrooge and didn't have any, opened our Christmas pajama presents (well, I got J slippers), drank hot chocolate, and watched Elf. It was super chill and fun!

I love being in my own home for holidays! Last year we were in Ireland for actual Christmas and Christmas Eve and it was kind of sad! So it was nice to be in our own home this year.

We even got Tucker to cuddle with us for a few minutes!

This was also our first Christmas with Tucker since he was with a sitter last year! I packed his stocking and he totally peeked haha. He was so cute on Christmas morning though and was playing with all his toys at the same time lol.

Christmas Day we had more hot chocolate, ate cinnamon rolls and went to see The Mule. (Which was ok but also could have ended better, IMO). We decided to just eat at home but J put frozen vegetables in a pan with high heat oil and all this steam came off and threw me into a panic lol. So that was a not so fun way to end the day! But I eventually calmed down (I am very scared of the fire alarm going off for some reason) and we watched Dexter, which was fun!

All in all, it was a good Christmas! It didn't snow which I didn't mind. (It actually snowed today, the day after Christmas!) All in all, it was good but I am definitely very excited for out future Christmases outside of Utah! I know I sound like a broken record, but it's how I feel so I'll continue to talk about it haha. I also need these blog posts as a record of what it was like living here again so I don't forget!

P.S. Here's some things that made me happy the past few days: J taking Tucker out and me getting to sleep in / Making J a breve hot chocolate / Taking a Christmas picture  / Redoing my home videos and getting my photos organized / Eating Apple Jacks / Going to movies in general and watching The Mule  / Going to Olive Garden with my mom for lunch on a work day / Having no shows and cancellations and getting to leave work early / It snowing

11.17.18 - Thanksgiving Celebrations!

Remember how I have hated Thanksgiving for as long as time? (Here are a few articles I skimmed that may help you find out why: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Sorry in advance if there is anything oppressive, I just skimmed them!)

So, this year we opted out of Thanksgiving and went to eat at Black Sheep Cafe the week before! It's a Native American restaurant in Provo that is SO GOOD. I tried the cactus pear lemonade, honey lavender fry bread, and green chili pork taco. All of which were very delish!

Fourth Of July Celebrations

Wow I am so late at posting all of this stuff haha. Anyway, these are only pictures I took on the 4th of July! We went to J's parents house and had a bbq with his sister and her family. I made this brownie dessert and it was ok. Probably what would be better is just doing like regular frosting, instead of cream cheese (and easier, too!). Anyway, that was basically it! It was a nice, lay low day!

Our 5 Year Anniversary!

It's so weird to me that we've been married for 5 years haha. It doesn't seem like I am old enough? But then again I did get married when I was 19 lol. Anyway, marriage has been good and I feel like we have done such fun, adventurous things! It has been fun to accomplish goals together!

We were going to go up to Salt Lake for our anniversary dinner (we were still living with my mom at the time) but when the time came we didn't feel like it, so we just went to The Ridge haha. I had the best fish n' chips in Vancouver and it sounded so good, so I got some but let me tell you: FISH N CHIPS IN A MOUNTAIN/DESERT STATE IS NOT GOOD LOL. J liked his pizza though, and the cookie/ice cream dessert is SOOOOO GOOD.

A few years ago they had this pretzel and cheese fondue dip that was SO GOOD. Like it was literally at the top of my list of food I wanted to eat when I came back to Utah when we lived out East. BUT THEY GOT RID OF IT. Anyway, I keep going back hoping they will have it and they don't lol. It's so sad. If any of you know of a place where I can get pretzel and cheese fondue, let me know!

More Christmas Things

Ok so these are the little gingerbread houses I was talking about in my other post. How cute, right?!

Ok so I kept seeing these cookies online and was like ??? Why do people like these? So we got some and cooked them, but they looked the same? So we cooked them longer until they were browned around the edges. They were GROSS. Like crumbly shortbread.

Ok so then we had another roll and we actually read the instructions. Turns out you are NOT supposed to over bake them at all! So we baked them a little under and they were so soft and chewy and good! Moral of the story is: DO NOT over bake.

I'm gonna post this on Insta later but the blog saw it first. ;)

In all reality, I feel like some pictures I have just been posting on Instagram, but then like what happens when I delete Instagram? All those pics are lost forever! So I need to start posting them here too. Cuz this is the true journal.

This is how the majority of our self-timed pictures go lol. Tucker always needin attention! Speaking of, we just got back from introducing him to the family who is going to be babysitting him while we are in Ireland! I am nervous he is not going to be good lol. But, idk, I guess we'll find out! He is pretty good these days, so I hope he's like that at the sitter.

We are off to Ireland today! It's crazy! I feel like this whole trip is just... crazy. Like yes we have planned, kind of? But also I have been so busy with grad school that I basically feel like we are just winging it. Which is ok as long as we don't die or get scammed haha. I feel like Ireland is so empty and rural that I feel like we will be fine, but I guess time will tell!

Christmas Things

I can't believe it's almost Christmas? It feels like this Christmas season hasn't been the same as the others! I've been so busy with grad school we haven't done much of the "typical" Christmas things, but we have done some fun things still! And today I plan to make allllllll the gingerbread cookies.

Ok so first of all apparently Connecticut gets a lot of snow? I had no idea. Last winter was super mild, and then this winter we are getting SO MUCH snow! The other day we got literally like 7" probably. It was amazing. I took Tucker to the dog park the next day to play in it and it was so fun lol.

Ok so also we made gingerbread houses! We weren't planning to but we saw this little village at Michael's for $7 and were like, why not? Then they were just sitting on the table and I felt weird about it, so I made them into cute little ornaments for the tree. I'm v proud of this burst of creativity that comes around about once every 5 years lol.

But in all reality I want to make these little gingerbread houses from a kit and make them into ornaments every year, because it was so fun and they are so cute on the tree. Tucker keeps going up and licking them lol. He doesn't try to eat the whole thing, he'll just lick it a few times and move on haha.

Speaking of Tucker, here are some random, cute pictures of him that I felt were appropriate for this post. Enjoy.
