Hi there!

Hi! Welcome to my corner of the internet. I'm a 26 year old therapist, feminist, photographer, and shop owner currently living in Seattle, Washington. My shop, Dealign with Feelings, is geared toward destigmatizing and normalizing mental health. I'm biased, but I think we have some pretty cute stuff :) Click the "shop" tab to see what we've got! I mainly post about my travel and daily life on here. With other random musings thrown in. I post more frequently (and about more feminism) on my Instagram @emmycoletti, so make sure you're following me there. Thanks for stopping by!

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day was so good this year! I didn't have to go to work until later in the day, so I cleaned the house and made some cute chocolate covered strawberries while watching Supernatural.

When I got home from work J and I did our little celebration. He brought home sweet and sour chicken and fried rice which was SO GOOD. And then the heart Krispy Kreme donuts!

We watched Warm Bodies in bed and it was so fun! I watched it before, but it was one of those movies that has been like 5 years since I had seen, so I kind of forgotten how it went haha.

Overall, it was a v fun and chill Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Day Adventure

Ugh I need to get back to using this blog as a journal. To be honest, life is pretty boring out here in Connecticut. We just got to work (J) and school (me) and then come home lol. But, there are little details I want to remember every once a while!

So yesterday was Valentine's Day and honestly I didn't make any plans. Sometimes I feel like there are so many holidays to make a big deal over, and while we are on a grad student budget I'm not crazy about spending a ton of money on every single holiday. So, I was just planning on like doing a normal day. But, then J said he had something planned.

So on Tuesdays we leave the house at 6:00am. I take the train into New York while J goes to work. He gets home a little bit earlier than me and then picks me up from the train station at 9:00pm. So I was like WTF are we doing at 9:00pm at night??

But he was so cute and was waiting for me at the train station. He got out of the car as soon as he saw me come down the stairs and gave me some roses. He had some Reese's minis in a heart waiting for me on the car seat (which is the true key to my heart) and a card! QT.

Then we went to Center Street Social in Shelton, Connecticut for dinner! There honestly aren't a lot of food places around us here hahaha.

So this is one we had found a while ago that we wanted to try, but thought it was expensive?? Ok well pro tip if you are ever in Shelton, Connecticut (which will most likely never happen unless you are doing a Gilmore Girl's tour or something lol) GO ON TUESDAYS. They have taco Tuesday with $2 tacos and nachos.

This was the main thing I wanted - the Bavarian pretzel. It came with honey mustard and jalepeno cheese and I couldn't even finish half of it. IT WAS SOOOO GOOD. Also it was like 12 inches across, so yeah. Huge.

These tacos were $2 a piece. J couldn't even eat 3. We are now wondering why we don't go there more, because even with paying a waiter our whole meal would still be under $20 if we did nachos and tacos lol.

Then we went home and immediately went to bed! In other news, I have recently heard our neighbor coughing while we are laying in bed and I'm like "!?!?!?!?!?" Like J and I do a lot of pillow talk at night and I'm just wondering if this guy is over there listening to every. single. word. hahahaha. We haven't met him except for when our building fire alarm went off at 2:00 am on. Sunday morning and we all evacuated and he was leaving his apartment the same time we were. I hope to never meet him because I do not even want to KNOW what he has heard us talk about hahahaha.

I hope you all had a happy Valentine's Day! My mom did the cutest lil' tradition for us when we were kids where she had a Valentine's dinner and wrote us a riddle about where in the house our gift was hidden. The gifts were just little $20 things, but it was so cute and I can't wait to do that for my babies when I have them in 50 years lol.

Anyway, hap V day!

Valentine's Weekend

These are the only two photos I took Valentine's weekend, so am I fired from blogging or what?!

We went up to Salt Lake and stayed in an Airbnb. It was so weird at first. I kept saying things like, "This is someone's house! This is his toothbrush! He sleeps in this bed!" He didn't put away any of his stuff to make it feel like a "hotel" lol. So, it was a little strange, but ultimately I really liked the experience. If anything, it was nice to get away for a night and have some space again.

(Side note: Whenever people make comments about how small our apartment in New York is I just laugh. Like we're living in a palace right now?! Haha. We don't even have an apartment, so anything (even if it's 500 square feet) is going to be a step up. Actually, I have a lot to say about "things people say to us about New York" haha. They're not bad, just funny. Maybe I should make a video about that.)

Ok! Anyway! Places we ate:

Italian Village: We both got pizza benders (basically calzones) because that's what we had heard was good. Jake liked it, but I wasn't the biggest fan. I think it was the marinara? I'm so picky with marinara. I thought I hate spaghetti until I was 20 and realized I just don't like Ragu sauces lol. Anyway, we decided we probably wouldn't recommend it. We would rather make calzones at home. (We make killer calzones btw.)

The Original Pancake House: Jake goes here all the time with his work and is obsessed. I have only heard good things so I was excited to try it. I had the hardest time deciding between the cheese omelet, banana chocolate chip pancakes, and apple pancakes. I decided to do the cheese omelet and sub regular pancakes for the chocolate chip ones. The omelet was good, but nothing I would go there for. THE HASHBROWNS THOUGH. AND THE HOT CHOCOLATE. AND THE CHOCOLATE CHIP PANCAKES. UGH IT WAS ALL SO GOOD. Jake would recommend the quevos rancheros and the banana pancakes. Go here. Just get up right now, walk out your door and drive/fly/sail to an Original Pancake House.

Dog Haus: I know, we do a fancy V-Day dinner haha. If you know me, you know I grossly love hot dogs. There are like 0 places that sell veggie dogs though! Once Dog Haus opened I was craving it hardcore! Jake got a chili cheese dog (what else would you expect haha) and loved it. I got the downtown dog and wasn't the biggest fan. I think it was just a lot for my simple palate haha. THE BUNS WERE SO GOOD THOUGH. They were like, sweet and just, just heavenly. I want to go back and just do a regular ketchup and mustard dog. Oh, and they have fry sauce, so that's a definite benefit. Anyway, definitely would recommend them.

There you have it! If you read all that then yay. You are a fellow foodie. If you just looked at the pictures and scrolled to the bottom, then yay. You are like me and read 80% of blogs for the pictures hahaha.

But yeah! That was our Valentine's weekend!

heart day

So, I originally wasn't planning on a Valentine's Day post. I was just going to slam it into a "lately" post because school is killing me slowly. But, now I'm sitting in my American Heritage class and pretttttty bored to be honest. Like, literally this class is 2 1/2 hours long which is extra painful today! Although, the class average for the midterm was in the mid 40s… so that's making my 40% score sound much better! Sometimes I don't understand why teachers make their tests so hard. Like, if the average score is 40-50%, maybe you need to do some reevaluating haha! Oh well, I'm not complaining. I just went from a F to a B thanks to the Super Curve!

Anyways, school rant over. Here are some images from our little Valentine's Day weekend. Are you sick of these posts yet? Haha.

We accidentally matched! Jake walked in right when I was getting dressed and had my outfit all layed out. Needless to say, we are v in sync. ;)

We went to Gilgal Park after devouring some food from Hire's (which isn't pictured because I couldn't stop eating and it was a very real small heaven). Gilgal was strange and I don't understand it. I'm glad we didn't go to Salt Lake just to go there, but it was nice to finally see what it was all about.

The sunset view from our hotel room was amazing! It made me so excited to move our of our little town to a big city one day.

We tried so hard to spot someone falling at the Gallivan Center ice skating rink, but I guess they were all pros because no falls were witnessed. Look at those cutie Christmas lights though! I love when places have outdoor lighting. It just adds so much personality and festivity. It's honestly one of the main reasons I love Cafe Trio so much, haha!

We walked over to Pie Hole and were super trendy there, as you can tell by the graffit walls. Also, for once I had a sharpie in my bag while at a graffiti-approved place. So, naturally we immortalized ourselves on the wall and quoted Titanic, because we had just watched it and forgot how corny it was. Also, Leo is legit a small child fresh out the womb, so that was creepy to us.

All in all, it was so nice to get away for a second! I feel like everyone thinks they are the most busy person in the world, and no one is busier than they are. So, I try not to pull the "busy" card too often as to not madden the world. But, we have been swamped lately, so it was nice to just spend some time together just the two of us.

Honestly, I'm not one for big parties or anything like that. I'm happiest when I'm just celebrating with one person, or like three max. Any more than that and I feel like it takes away from my event. I know it's super weird and there are probably lots of people out there who feel like they are offending me by not making a big deal out of things, or who think I am being like, passive and secretly hoping a big even is thrown for me. But honestly I appreciate it soooo much when people just let me do my own little thing with just a few people, even though it may not be the way they themselves would choose to celebrate. Introvert problems… right? Haha, but I'm just really glad that Jake understands that part of me, and doesn't force big events or parties on me with things like Valentine's Day, my birthday, graduation, etc.

This is turning into a much longer post than I meant for it to be, but I guess I am just happy he understands how I like to celebrate and feel super lucky that I never have to feel awkward or upset with the way the holiday has gone!! I'm basically just obsessed with Jake, ok?

I hope everyone had a good Valentine's Day celebrating the love we all have for each other! Isn't it neat that there is literally a day dedicated to showing others how much you love them? Haha I love it.

valentine's happenings / late happy list: 14

I love Valentine's day! This year I decided to skip school and clean the house/set up cute things. I had to redo my nails though. As much as I loved the scotch tape thing, the tape started snagging on stuff and then it wasn't perfect and it bothered me. So, I redid them yesterday. My sister-in-law gave me this way cool nail polish kit for my birthday. You paint your base coat, and then paint over that with this glue stuff, and then stick foil to the glue! These look a lot more yellow than they are in real life. In real life it looks like I have gold on my nails. It's awesome.

Why don't some girls like flowers? I know my sister thinks they are so stupid. Help me understand! I love them. And I love getting them.

We dined at Station 22. I liked it! They had this huge wall with 60 different types of soda! You just go over and pick one out, and then the waitress/waiter brings you a cold one. Turns out Sarsparilla tastes delicious! And is also the cutest bottle.

We liked the food too. Their sweet potato fries were TO DIE FOR. I got the veggie burger and it was really good! The patty was kind of weird, because it wasn't like, held together? If that makes sense. But, I loved the bun. And the fries. Did I mention the fries? Safe to say we rate it five stars!

While looking for a vase, I decided to just use my soda bottle and I'm obsessed with how cute it is!

I love Valentine's Day! Any excuse to do cute, fun things while dressed fancy... right?

1/ thick knee socks 2/ finding a parking spot seconds after pulling into the parking lot 3/ getting my first a- on a test 4/ when jake surprised me with treats for no reason 5/ buying tickets to phantogram (!!!) 6/ catching up on all my favorite dvr shows (awkward, pretty little liars, new girl, the walking dead) 7/ taking daily bubble baths (literally) / finding out that chris carrabba's new band is opening for augustana which means that he will be standing by his merch stand like most opening bands do and that means that i might finally get a picture with the lead singer of my favorite band 8/ the rainy and overcast weather we have been having 9/ being able to house sit from the 7-23, which means having bath tubs, big screen televisions, endless supplies of treats, backyards, and pets. we love when our families travel! 10/ celebrating special days with the cutest human.

Make a happy list. It makes you feel better about your life!
