Sunday, January 27, 2019

Sunday was good! I got to sleep in! We are trying to train Tucker to sleep in later, so J got up with him but then fell asleep on the couch and we both slept through church haha.

I had my book club, too. This month we read Born A Crime by Trevor Noah. I didn't read it, but the first few pages I got to had so much good stuff. I was highlighting like crazy! We went to Sweet Lake Biscuits, which has been on my list for a while! I got the eggs Benedict, which were ok but I don't know if they were the best. I honestly wish they would do a biscuit French toast like Jacob's Pickles, because their biscuits were SO GOOD! I think I may have just gotten the wrong thing!

They had limeades too which were really good! I liked that the straws they gave us were reusable. And when I asked for a to go cup for my drink, it was compostable and they didn't give me a straw. Very eco-friendly! ALSO, while we were walking out I saw Joshua James! He is a really good musician from Utah who I have now seen twice haha.

I spent the rest of the day just hanging out! I started a new fiction book, Sunburn, which I am really liking! We also watched the Ted Bundy Tapes documentary on Netflix that was really good. It was very informational and I learned so many new things about him.

P.S. Here's a happy list for today: Trying a new place, Sweet Lake Biscuits and Limeade / My friend giving me a ride to brunch and belly laughing at things that were said / Sleeping in

So, I had my conference all day Saturday as well! This day was a bit more interesting; we learned about orthorexia and diabetes stigma! I was sending J pictures of the food and he kept joking that it was Fyre Festival food lol. It was actually really good! The first day was Cafe Rio and this day was soup and bread (as you can see). I loved it too, because at eating disorder clinics, they have meals with snacks in between! So you have breakfast at like 7:45, snack at 10:15, lunch at 12:45, snack at 2:15 etc. Anyway, it was fun to have the snacks! Especially since they were provided for us haha. When I worked at an eating disorder clinic we had to bring our own food, which made it less fun, but still!

After the conference, J and I went to Slab in Provo, which was delicious as always. I always get the Meikel! We got a scotcharoo from Sodalicious and drove around for a bit after, which was v nostalgic. We were down there to see one of my friends in her play, Wonderland. It was really good! It turned out she was sick and lip syncing the whole time, which I couldn't tell at all haha. People are so talented! I always love seeing people I know in things. It just makes the whole thing more fun!

Also worth noting, this day J traded the car I was borrowing in for a new one. The one I was borrowing had tires that were too big for it, so when I turned them they would get caught on the plastic thing by the tires. It made a really loud noise and everyone looked at me when I was turning into parking lots and stuff lol, but also it made it really hard to turn. So, I am glad to be borrowing this new car!

P.S. J using validating statements per our conversation yesterday / Doing a cute compliment thing with my boss and exchanging rocks / Seeing on of my friends from high school in a play

I am so proud of our budget this month! I made a goal for us to save enough to go to Seoul by September and we hit our goal for this month! It feels so good! The website/app we use is Mint and it's awesome. I would recommend using just one account for you and your partner so you can both track it. It takes a minute at first to organize it, but you can have it remember what charges go into what category so it gets quicker. And you can set goals! So you link your goal to a bank account and set your amount you want to save and the date, and then it works it into your budget and tells you how much you need to save every month. Anyway, it's really cool!

Also, not sponsored, just a fan of budgeting haha. I like knowing where our money is going and being able to save for the things we really care about!

ANYWAY, Friday night we were trying to decide where to eat. J wanted to sit down but I didn't want to spend a lot of money, so we ended up going into McDonald's and sitting down haha. I realized one way in which I am snobby is that I don't like eating inside of fast food restaurants, and I want to change that! It was actually fine eating in there and there were cool screens we ordered our food from. Also, if you don't already have the McDonald's app, get it! They have such great deals. Shout out to my aunt for letting me know about it haha.

Something else to note of this day is that I posted a review of the research on my therapy Instagram and talked about the celery juice claims that are going around. I gained SO MANY followers from it and got SO MANY positive DMS, but I had literally 2 people say somewhat negative things and couldn't get over it haha. Really ironic that I had also just created a post about mental filtering (focusing on the small negative things instead of all the positive things). I think my therapy Instagram  will be a good challenge for me in confidence and letting things go!

Oh, also I was at a conference all day at The Center For Change. It was ok, but I was actually kind of shocked at all the diet culture comments that were made! I was expecting way more awareness and a health at every size approach, so it was kind of a bummer. There were some interesting things I learned though!

- - - - -

P.S. I thought this college tuition program at McDonald's was cool! Anyone know more details? Is it as cool as it looks?

P.P.S. Here's a happy list for today: Hitting our savings goal this month for Seoul / I was talking to J about how I need validation and then we went to Best Buy to fix a return and in the car J was talking about how he just wanted to Best Buy guy to say sorry and I was like, "Oh, you mean you wanted validation?" And it was so funny haha

I was actually really sad this day, but J thought this was cute and it made me smile. This rice slot also has lavender in it and is so warm and cozy. Way better than the regular microwave pouches!

- - - - -

P.S. Here's a happy list for today: Having a day off to get caught up on notes / My friend telling me a story about the security guard checking her purse and seeing a bunch of tampons and being so awkward like, "Oh.... ok.... you're good to go!" lol / Hearing J say "goodnight" to Tucker

Tuesday, January 22, 2019

Today was good! I went to lunch with my friend Susie and it was so fun! I love when you hang out with people and you belly laugh haha. We went to Cravings (which has a $2 Tuesday, btw) and it was really good! I changed my Tuesday schedule so I start later and work later, and I have really liked it so far! I feel better about leaving Tucker inside all day too, knowing that J will let him out when he gets home from work.

P.S. Here's a happy list for today: When Tucker lays down and lets out a big sigh / J made cookies and served me cookie dough / Going to lunch with a friend

01.20.19 - The Rose Establishment!

Sunday I met up with a friend for brunch at The Rose Establishment! I have been wanting to go here for a long time and it met my expectations! I got this chia pudding that was really good. I also got a hot chocolate with cashew milk that tasted really normal? I have actually heard that cashew milk is one of the closest tasting to regular milk? Idk! But, it was good!

I also finally semi-satisfied my tomatoes soup and cheese bread craving! The cheese breads from Aubergine and Company are SO GOOD. But the frozen Brazi Bites were all I had and they were ok haha. Good, but not the same thing!

I also finally hung up all my Polaroid pictures! I am so dumb lol. I have done these for so long and always just eyeball it. Well, this time I realized you can measure out 2 points and then put a strip of masking tape in between to keep it all even! It looks so much better hahaha. I'll have to post a picture later!

P.S. Here's a happy list for today: Having brunch with a friend / Setting up my polaroid wall / Throwing my wallet across the room and it landed perfectly in my bag

Saturday, January 19, 2019

Saturday was such a good day! J had a guys' day with a friend, so I just stayed home and got caught up on a bunch of random stuff and watched some movies. I really liked The Autopsy of Jane Doe, but also I knew nothing going in to it and that is what I would suggest! Also, these pretzels from Trader Joe's are SO GOOD. Especially with Ken's Honey Mustard sauce. It is TRULY the best honey mustard!

P.S. Here's a happy list for today: Getting organized / Having the day alone / Tucker laying next to me on the couch

Sunday, January 13, 2019

Today was pretty chill! We went to church but then left to get J's car halfway through so I spent the second half of church at home reading and drinking hot chocolate with T. (Side note: We have been training him to wake up later by not feeding him first thing in the morning and I'm pretty sure we both forgot to feed him this morning at all lol. We realized at like 4:00pm... oops!)

I also made this cookie recipe and would recommend it! We skipped the powdered milk and they still turned out super good. I would say the flaked salt DEFINITELY contributed to them being so good. You can get flaked salt at Whole Foods!

I also finished this book today. If you wanna read my book review, be my friend on Good Reads!

Tucker was so cute, but what else is new! Whenever I post pictures like this, keep in mind he stays in these positions for like less than 10 seconds and then leaves lol. When he does lay his head in my lap though, I can definitely see how a therapy dog that did that would be so comforting!

Other things we did today:

Checked out a dog park by our house. I want to start taking Tucker again, but also don't want him to throw up worms again and don't want to buy him the medication to prevent that so alas.

Watched The Resident. If you watched You on Netflix and were strangely attracted to Penn Badgley's character even though he is supposed to be really creepy, watch The Resident on Hulu to repair! It has Jeffrey Dean Morgan who is arguably on the same level as Penn Badgley, but they show him in a creepier light which I wish is what they would have done on You. Hopefully they do a better job on season 2!

We are watching Baywatch right now and I am unsure how I feel? Like the first 5 minutes were pretty quick witted and funny, but I feel like it has been downhill from there. So we'll see!

P.S. Here's a happy list for today: Seeing a guy getting back into his semi truck that was pulled over on the side of the road and his butt crack was showing lol

Friday, January 11, 2019

I have been pretty bad at daily writing, so I am back dating these lol.

Friday was pretty good! I had a meeting in the morning, but the person I was supposed to meet with forgot to cancel so I ended up not having it. I don't know if it's an introvert thing or not, but I LOVE when plans get canceled. It's like, free time! So I went to Banbury Cross and got some donuts! I was sad because I thought this was the strawberry coconut but it was just a white chocolate coconut? Anyway, if you go there and have a favorite donut, let me know! So far my favorite donut is the original glaze from Krispy Kreme I'm not even kidding lol.

Work was work and I've already decided to not ever go into detail once public platforms because it's weird haha. But after work we went to Carls' Junior to try the new Beyond Meat burgers! We used to eat these all the time when we lived in Connecticut and I was so excited to hear that Carl's Junior was carrying them! It was just as good as I thought it would be. You can sub it for any meat patty, but I just got the Famous Star. (Not sponsored, just a fan.)

We watched Mid90's and it honestly triggered me haha. I have talked a lot about it on Instagram, but basically it is categorized as a "comedy/comedy-drama" and I feel like it is DEFINITELY a drama. No comedy involved? So it threw me because I thought I was watching a comedy. Mostly I was sad because I understand the whole "finding family outside your family" thing but I felt like the friends the kid found were really bad influences and like almost get him killed multiple times? So that bothered me. And also there were so many illegal things that I wish would have gotten resolved. I also was sad to see so many kids with horrible home lives then destroying their lives. The social worker in me wanted to help them but the movie just ends and you have no idea if their situations gets better. ANYWAY. I would say I've been in a weird funk for the past 48 hours since watching it so just BEWARE ugh.

Dear White People Is So Good

Today was pretty chill. It was fun to wear my new clothes. I feel like a future president in this blazer lmao.

I had a lot of open spaces in my work schedule today, so I was able to come home and eat some lunch which was v nice. I started watching Killing Eve which I think is pretty good so far!

J made zucchini enchiladas for dinner which are SO GOOD. Then we just watched TV. My mom came over on her way home from a friend's house and was telling us how she can't get her podcast to play in her car. I was telling her how she probably just needed to change the "source" on her stereo and she was saying how she messed around with it so much and it still wouldn't work. So then I get in her car, literally press one button once, and it worked hahahahaha. She was like, "ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!" And we all laughed haha.

Now we are watching Dexter! It's getting intense! We are on season 7, I think. Or whatever the second to last season is.

I think that's pretty much all that happened of note today! My last day of my job is next Friday, so that's that! Also of note is Tucker chewed up literally 2 pairs of my underwear today. I am getting LIVID. Mostly we just need to get a laundry basket with a lid, I guess! Also of note is that the snow melted so now Tucker is super muddy when we let him in which sucks and gets my new white rug dirty, UGH. I don't know how we are going to handle this in Seattle lol. Suggestions welcome!

Sunday, January 6, 2019

I am writing this a week after the fact lol. But we went to my sister's house last week to pick up some stuff they were getting rid of (THANK YOU SISTER). My mom and I helped her unpack and put away some of her clothing inventory and it was so fun. I love organizing things haha. Also I found this maternity belly that she uses for photo shoots and they were like, "Put it on just to see!" But then they were like so sad it wasn't real and basically triggered themselves hahahaha. I can't really say I felt any different seeing myself with a pregnant belly? I mean I think it will be cool if it happens, but I also don't know if I would feel intense regret if I couldn't get pregnant and didn't get to experience pregnancy. I don't know, we'll just have to see when that time comes in 5 years ;)

Oh, and J tried it on too lol. The first thing he did when I showed him was knock on it hahaha. So, probably not ready for a baby either lol.

On the way home I got stopped in this standstill for the Springville cop who got shot. It was weird timing because I had just finished reading The Hate U Give. Which was a REALLY good book, by the way! It addresses some of the stuff that happens racially in the criminal justice system that still needs to be improved, but in a really great and tactful way, in my opinion.

And that's all I can remember from this day so I'll end here!

- - - - -

P.S. Here's a happy list for today: My 6 year old nephew turned to J at dinner and said, "How's work, J??" / My mom texting me: "I also have some petrified friends from high school that I kept in the closet for you in case" / A guy snoring during church

Saturday, January 5, 2019

I am writing this a week after the fact so let's see if I can remember what happened lol.

We mostly went through and used so many of our gift cards! I have one of those Thread wallets that can't hold a lot so we are very motivated to use them haha. I got some cute new clothes, but most excitedly we tried out Hello K Tea at the Fashion Place mall. They have the coolest galaxy drinks that you have to try! This is the passionfruit and it was really good. I really liked the quality of the cups too, they feel like something you could keep lol.

01.02.19 - Legoland!

This is the last day from our trip to California!

We got donuts from Donut Bar in the morning and they were so good! They had so many cool flavors and even this cute unicorn donut!

01.01.19 - Disneyland!

So this was my first time in Disneyland since I was literally 8 years old. I didn't really have any expectations, and it was actually a lot more fun than I was thinking it would be! We went on pretty much all the rides on my list (my sister gave me a list lol) and got to try so many treats! The treats were my favorite part lol.

These churros were so good! Also right after this we went Soarin' Over The World which was really cool and the Car's ride which was definitely my favorite. We did that fast pass thing, and it was cool and helped things go a lot faster I think!

I got the bread bowl from this Cafe and it was seriously so good! You can see them making the sourdough bread too which was really cool.

We split up for a bit and J and I went on Space Mountain which was actually probably my least favorite. It was just jerky and dark the whole time?

This tigger tail from the Winnie The Pooh area was my favorite! I almost didn't get it because I thought it was going to just be chocolate and caramel covered marshmallows, but it was actually orange flavored chocolate and caramel which made it SO GOOD. It seriously tasted like a creamsicle and was probably my favorite treat of the trip!

We got the mint julep drink and Mickey beignets from the New Orlean's area and they were both so good too!

We did more rides and then did dinner at Flo's, which was a lot better than I was expecting! I just got a burger and fries.

We only got crappy iPhone photos together, but I don't mind!

These macarons were another of my favorite treats! I also almost didn't get these, because I haven't been super craving macarons for a while, but I did just for the experience and they were for sure the best macarons I have ever had! The filling is raspberries, so it makes them really fresh and not too sweet. For sure a must try!

And, that was our trip to Disneyland! It was really fun and I would definitely go again, which was something I probably wouldn't have said prior to this trip haha.

- - - - -

P.S. Here's a happy list for today: Going on rides and when J yelled "shiiiiiiii" in his weird voice he does / When J gave a random girl $5 / Getting treats at Disneyland
