Weekly Reviews

1/ These Stella and Dot necklaces are amazing because you can wear them as pictured. OR you can remove certain necklaces from the collection and wear them individually. (Coin necklace here and silver necklace here.)

2/ I tried this vegan concealer and wasn't too impressed. I felt like it was too oily and shiny. It might just be my skin though! If you have tried it, let me know if you liked it.

3/ This is the current concealer I use. I like it, but definitely feel like there is probably better out there if I were to look! If you have a fave concealer, let me know.

4/ E.L.F. bb cream has been my go to for a while now. I love that it is so cheap on Amazon and light weight on my skin. I like when my freckles show through so I don't like to use a ton of foundation.

5/ Love love love this Becca highlighter. I think I have posted about it before on Instagram, but I am still liking it!

The Breakfast Of Champions

Disclosure: This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #CelebrateGoodness #WakeUpRight #CollectiveBias
You guys, I don't know how I haven't made donuts until now?? I have been missing out BIG TIME! These were so good I literally ate 3 straight out of the oven and had to bake another batch lol. They are too good to keep to myself, I had to share!
We got the new Malt-O-Meal Double Chocolate Brownie Crunch cereal the other day at here's a coupon link if you want to try it). I have eaten a bowl every day for breakfast lol. So, I figured, why not combine two beautiful breakfast foods to create the ultimate breakfast?! And thus, these cereal donuts were born.
Here's the recipe for the donuts! (I used this recipe but made tweaks. What I did is below!)
  • 1 cup of flour (add more if it looks too runny)
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 6 tablespoons sour cream
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
Add it all together and mix (I use a kitchenmaid). Scrape into a bag, cut a tip off, and pipe into the donut pan. Don't worry if it isn't perfect, because when you flip them over after cooking the other side is flawless haha.
When they're done, add frosting! Once again, I based mine off of this recipe, but made tweaks. What I did is listed below! (You might need to make two (or three!) batches, depending on how much frosting you want.)
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 2 1/2 (ish) cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Whisk it all together, put into a bag, cut off a corner, and pipe onto your donuts.
Last but not least, add your Brownie Crunch!
If you try these, let me know how you like them! You can find more recipes on their Pinterest page here.

How To Have The Perfect Snow Day

This shop/post has been compensated by Collective Bias, INC. and The Coca-Cola Company, all opinions are mine alone. #FlavorsForYourMood #CollectiveBias

One of the best things about living in New England, is they cancel school/church/work at the most minimal amount of snow lol. Growing up in Utah, we could get like 2 feet of snow and NOTHING would be canceled. So, it has been fun to have so many snow days and be able to truly enjoy the snow from home! Turns out, Tucker LOVES the snow. We went to the dog park this morning and everyone was making snowballs and throwing them at their dogs hahaha. It was definitely a picturesque moment that I will always remember!

Anyway, here's my opinion on what makes a perfect snow day:

Step 1: Run to your nearest Walgreens and buy allllllll the Diet Coke®! I was excited to try the new  flavors. They are the same original Diet Coke flavor (it hasn't been altered), just with added yummy flavors like Mango, Cherry, etc. They cans also got a facelift which I think is A+. They created all these flavors to match whatever mood you are in (which is good because I go through all moods in a day lol). You can scan your finger to see what flavor matches your mood that day. Click here when on a mobile device and do it! It also gives you a digital coupon for buy one can get one can free! (Perf for a date night/snow day in with your bae.)

I was genuinely excited to participate in this campaign because I used to live in Utah and they have a lot of soda shops where you can get different flavors in your soda (a popular one is coconut and lime in Diet Coke, they call it "dirty Diet Coke"). It's a huge thing out there and there are so many shops that sell only soda and other treats, but it's pretty non-existent out here in Connecticut. I have definitely missed it. We used to go all the time and it was so fun!. So, I was happy to see that now I can get some fun flavors just down the street at Walgreens! My favorite flavor is Diet Coke® Fiesty Cherry (I actually kept drinking them before shooting these pictures so J had to keep going and getting more lol). J's favorite flavor is Diet Coke® Zesty Blood Orange.

Step 2: Build a sweet blanket fort! I used a bunch of tapestries and thumbtacks, but you can kick it old school with sheets and chairs, too! The last time we built a blanket fort was over New Year's when we were dating and I fell asleep before midnight lol. J took a picture of him toasting himself with me sleeping in the background and sent it to my family lol. It was too funny.

Step 3: Watch a movie! We have been going through our list of movies we want to watch (there is like literally 100, yikes!). We watched Happy Death Day and Her this past weekend, and are watching 30 Days Of Night as I write this!

Step 4: Try to enjoy the drinks and movie while your dog child attempts to attack you lol. Nah, in all reality he is pretty good these days. The key is just playing with him for like 10 minutes when he needs to play! Seriously it makes all the difference in the world!

Andddddd, that's it! Enjoy your snow day with your baes! Lemme know what Diet Coke flavor is your favorite if you have tried them!

A Happy List: 183

02/14/18: Taking a Via in NYC instead of the subway / Shooting a surprise proposal / Seeing a herd of pre-schoolers in reflective vests holding hands and crossing the street. / These "what would you look like as the opposite gender" results! They crack me up haha. I was trying to do one for my mom, but it took my niece's face instead lol. Also why does my sister look like a UVU student who wants to sell me Vivant?

02/16/18: Tucker sleeping under the curtain lol.

02/17/18: White chocolate raspberry cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory. Mmmmmmm.

02/18/19: We went to the dog park to play in the snow and the snow was PERFECT for snowballs. So all the dog owners were throwing snowballs at their dogs and the dogs were rolling around in the snow and it was just so picturesque! / J: "I need a new carabiner... My carabiner is out of carabine!"

A Happy List: 182

01/15/18: Taking a break in the middle of a work day to go home and get my lanyard. I love the feeling of not being somewhere I am supposed to be lol.

01/16/18: I woke up in the middle of the night and Tucker was laying with his head inches from mine. Also, if you didn't hear, the lead singer of The Cranberries died this day, and the radio station did a tribute and played all of her songs, which I thought was so thoughtful and respectful <3.

01/18/18: Hearing J swear for the first time in the whole time I have known him lol. It was at Tucker, in case you were wondering lol.

01/19/18: I was at the dog park with Tucker and this huge goldendoodle kept humping Tucker. At one point, they were standing right by us owners and the dog was humping tucker the opposite way on his back lol. The elderly guy who owned him said, "Well, you can tell he's a virgin! He doesn't know how to do it!" It was SO funny hahahaha.

01/20/18: It was so warm at the dog park and no one else was there, so I was able to sit on the bench and read for a bit. It was really nice.

01/21/18: Ok so let me preface this by saying that church out here is so much better than church in Utah. The culture is SO different and it cracks me up every day. Today in Relief Society (a meeting for the women in the church) I looked over in the corner and there was an older woman eating a sandwich lol. Also during Sunday school we witnessed someone take glasses straight off of someone's face, clean them, and put them back lol. Also Tucker ate a pretzel stick gently out of my mouth.

01/22/18: J switching back to iPhone!!

01/23/18: Tucker putting his face in my lap from underneath the table while I'm eating breakfast.

01/24/18:  I walked in the kitchen and saw J eating the only donut we had left. So I squeezed his cheeks and called him a "donut monster" and he smiled and looked like the cutest little chipmunk with powdered sugar all over his lips lol. Also the Indian spiced oatmeal at Oatmeals in Greenwich Village.

01/25/18: Preordering the new garments! I am sooooo excited you can not believe!

01/26/18: Hanging new art on my gallery wall.

01/27/18: Listening to Esther Perel's podcast. I listened to the "I've had better" episode and it was SO GOOD.

01/28/18: Tucker sleeping and chewing his bone at the same time.

01/29/18: When I'm eating breakfast and Tucker comes from underneath the table and puts his head on my lap.

01/30/18: Getting to leave work early.

01/31/18: Tucker wrapping himself in the curtains lol. Also my mom sent me a GIF of Spongebob smoking and I asked her what she typed in the search bar to find that and she said "smoking a joint" hahahahaha.

02/07/18: Imogen Heap. Listening to her feels so much like home to me.

02/08/18: Watching Tucker watch a bird fly.

02/09/18: Tucker sleeping with his food bowl. Also, he always picks his food bowl up and moves it around, so I have been teaching him to pick it up and bring it back. And today he did it! I had to put it in his mouth, but he still carried it back haha.

Things To Remember

I finally taught Tucker how to play dead! He is the smartest but most stubborn dog. So like he knows how to do all the tricks and he will do them so fast if we have a treat he really wants. But if he is bored of doing tricks or the treat isn't that good, he will just meander around until he finally gets to the trick lol. It is honestly so weird to me how animals have personalities haha.

Tucker always thinks our lint roller is a game. But in other news, I bought this reusable lint roller and I have never been so impressed with an invention. I felt kinda weird about wasting so much paper with regular lint rollers, and also the cost of that could really add up, so I wanted to find a good alternative, and I definitely think I found one!

I am currently living off off veggie corn dogs. They are the best thing. What is happening in the photo below is a candid moment caught of me dropping my precious veggie corn dogs. Notice the body language. That is true love, you guys. TRUE LOVE.

This alien hoodie is the best thing to happen to my wardrobe in a while. It is $12 and you need one. Buy it here! I sized up because I wanted it to be baggy.

In other news, I bought a ticket to visit my grandma in Washington next month and I'm v excited! Grad school has been killing me. It's been rough because honestly the communication between my internship and my school hasn't been the best? So I basically just feel like a doll people are tossing around and demanding things of hahaha. But hey, thus is life sometimes.

I am considering getting a non-therapy job after I graduate. Just because I feel like I am young and have a lot of time to do the things I want to do. So I am considering working for a tech start-up again, because I loved loved loved my time at Social Dental/Banyan. I think therapy and social work is such an important job and very needed! But at the same time, it is really hard to work for agencies because there is a lot of paperwork type stuff that can be draining. The therapy itself is super awesome and I love it! It's mostly just the other components that can really eat up my energy (and happiness) sometimes. So I think a break after all this wouldn't be the worst thing in the world! So, anyway. We'll see what life throws at me! I am trying to be better at just like, rolling with what happens and not sticking to fiercely to any specific plan. So, wish me luck!
